Betasanne®
Betasanne®, a dry
acid-chitosan complex, is a new composition of matter, recently
described in a published patent (WO 00/50090). It is a form of chitosan
that has been converted to a dry, stable material, which approaches a
chitosonium chloride salt of chitosan, formed by interaction with an
acid. This mixture of acid and chitosan, with the addition of controlled
amounts of water, forms a free-flowing mix such that the acid molecules
attain the necessary mobility to accomplish at least partial protonation
of the chitosan, and thereby allows it to become more rapidly
water-soluble. These results suggest that the fat-binding capacity of
Betasanne® is superior to that of Chitosan and that Betasanne® is associated with a serum chemistry profile that potentially lends itself
to decreased morbidity.
Sulf Control®
Sulf Control® is a product that is used to safely and cost effectively inhibit the biological development of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) in a variety of anaerobic wastewater environments. Sulf Control® blocks the specific formation of sulfide gas without killing or modifying bacteria. It is biodegradable and will not adversely affect aerobic processing of wastewater or solids.
